How to fix Instagram hashtag problem |
|
|
|
|
|
|

You add a hashtag to your uploaded Instagram pictures but when you click the hashtag your picture doesn't show up there? Yes I know, it's pretty frustrating, but I happen to know how to fix this!

This did not work at all. Also, it seems like you're using an older version of Instagram. |

Hey chendaddy
I've tried everything, from reinstalling the app, resetting phone to factory defaults, creating a new account but nothing worked. But when I connected my old account to my Facebook account, it started working immediately.
It's an up-2-date Instagram for iOS, but it also worked for a lot folks with Androids.
Did you go through the steps 9 - 15 as well? And mind the step 4, if your Facebook sharing is already enabled, disable it and enable it back again.
And also, mind the step 15, especially the part saying, "You must also enter the hashtags you used in your pictures description if you want them to work".

Hey cinetici thanks for the feedback.
If you say you followed the procedure thoroughly and it didn't work, I would suggest you going through the procedure again, sometimes it works if you repeat the procedure a couple of times. You might also try reinstalling the Instagram app and than repeat the steps once more (but reinstalling the app usually doesn't make the hashtag problem disappear).
As the last resort I suggest you to contact Instagram tech support via Instagram bug report and at the same time report your problem to @InstagramHelp on Twitter. More people report this issue, more chances are they are going to fix this annoying bug.
Hope it works out for you asap!

Hey ljallan,
just to be sure, here are some official Instagram rules that can prevent you from posting comments if you do not follow them:
- You can only include up to 5 @ mentions in a single comment
- You can only include up to 30 #hashtags on a single photo
- You cannot post multiple, duplicate comments (including emoji)
You can always try deleting Instgram, restarting you phone and installing Instagram again (if you already didn't). But if you tried everything mentioned in this guide and comments, then I am afraid you will have to wait for this glitch to go away. This things tend to get fixed "by themselves" after a while. And do report it to both bug report and Twitter you can see in the post above. I know, it's an unnecessary hustle, this things should just work.
But if you come up with a solution that worked for you, please be so kind and post it here. Thank you!

Hi thanks for the post,Unfortunately it hasn't fixed my problem. For me it started when I posted a photo from my pc using Gramblr. Warning (!!!) Do not download this computer app, it will break your instagram account! If you have any advice for how to fix hashtags after using this app, it would be a great help as IG has not fixed the problem after reporting the issue. |

Hey bkrisp,
sorry to hear that. I've heard many stories about Gramblr ruining accounts as Instagram doesn't allow to upload photos using a third party app, the only legit way is to use the "original" (iOS, Android or WP8 Instagram app).
If I stumble upon a a working solution I will let you know. Thank you for sharing! |

Hi Mat, Sadly it didn't work for me. As I followed your instruction on Statigram, there is no bin as I scroll over the hashtags. Do you have any other suggestions to resolve this please? This is really frustrating. Thanks for your help. C |

Hey Charmaine
did you login to Statigram with the same account you have on your phone? Bin should show up immediately after you hover you mouse over the comments or even the comments area. I tried just tried it again and the bin is there.
I suggest you to go through the whole thing again including the comments above.
Wish you luck!

Hey Charmaine,
oh now I know. You don't actually have any comments. Your hashtags are only in your description. Go to one of your photos that have comments and run your mouse over them there, the bin should show up for sure.
Try adding #davidbowie in the comments of your photo (I know, there is already one in the description) then tap it and check out if it worked. |

Thanks Matt. Nope. Didn't work for me adding hashtags to comments. Thanks for all the suggestions. If you can think of any ways to resolve this please do let me know. C

Hi Matt, I figured out a temporary solution and it appears some hashtags are working.
Basically I deleted Instagram from my phone and turned off and on my phone then reinstalled Instagram. And instead of putting hashtags on my description I put them on comments. This way only works on one photo upload and if I want to upload more photos later on I have to delete Instagram and repeat the steps again. I noticed my photos appeared in some less popular hashtags and not at all in popular hashtags like #fashion #fashionblogger but I've come to the conclusion that some visibility is better than none.
Hope Instagram will fix this problem soon. C |

Hey Charmaine,
now try enabling and disabling Facebook sharing. If it's already enabled, disable and enable it again. Then try putting hashtags in comments.
And thanks for your feedback again, much appreciated. |

If this is honestly the only solution, then I'm going to have to drop instagram. I'm not getting on Facebook to fix a problem with another social network that I was reluctant to use to begin with because of my dislike for social media. Particularly Facebook |

Ive tried all of the above :/ just a few weeks ago all my posts were showing under the hashtags and now they aren't. The weirdest part is that I have two instagram accounts, a personal one and another one and the other one works with all the hashtags. I use them both on the same phone (iphone 5s) and it still doesn't work on my personal account. I have tried updating, deleting, re installing, logging in and out, shutting off phone, the whole facebook thing. I even tried changing my email address and user name. I changed my password. I tried posting pics and then posting a comment with hashtags. NOTHING works. Should I just delete my personal account and make a new one?I have written to instagram every single day |
