How to backlight an object in Premiere
You have probably seen some video where they show an old photo and then illuminate a particular person in the picture. Let mi show you how to do that.

Right-click below Sequence 1 on gray field and select Import...
|
|
|

|
|
Select picture where you want to illuminate something.
|
|
|

Select imported picture...
|
|
|

...and drag it to Timeline at Video 1.
|
|
|

|
|
|
Right-click below imported picture and select New Item, Title.
|
|
|

|
|
|
Write any name for the title and click OK.
|
|

|
Now create ellipse over the part you want to backlight.
|
|
|

|
|
|
On the right side select white color for the ellipse.
|
|
|

|
Select Rectangle Tool.
|
|
|

Now create rectangle over the whole Title field...
|
|
|

...and select black color on the right side.
|
|
|

Right-click on created rectangle and select Arrange, Send to Back.
|

The ellipse should come to the front.
|
|
|

Select title you have just created...
|
|
|

...and drag it to Timeline at Video 2. Move it a few seconds forward.
|

|
|
With Time indicator go to the place where both objects are desplyed at the same time.
|
|

Select object you have just created.
Under Effect Controls set Opacity to 50%.
|
|
|

Go to Effects, Video Effects, Keying and select Color Key...
|
|
|

|
|
|
...and drag it under Effect Controls.
Select white color and experiment a little with other values to get smoother edge on the ellipse.

|
Go to Effects and open Video Transiotion. Under Dissolve select Cross Dissolve...
|
|
|

|
|
|
...and drag it to the start and the end of the object with the ractangle and ellipse
