Item cannot be copied there isn't enough free space

You deleted everything from your USB key or a drive, so there should be enough free space to copy the new files, but you still get the not enough free space message in Mac OS X? This is what you need to do.

1.

This is the message window I'm am talking about. If you put enough files in the Trash so it should let you carry on with copying the new stuff on your USB drive, but it still doesn't?

You need to simply empty the trash.

2.

Find the Trash bin icon, right-click it and choose Empty Trash.

3.

Confirm your action by clicking Empty Trash.

4.

Now try and copy the files once more, only this time it should work.

It's interesing that Windows puts also everything in Trash when using USB HDD Drive. With USB sticks they delete everything permanently.
