Hi everyone.
I was a huge fan of Linux (but most in words) and I wonder what happened to it? Today everyone is talking about Windows and MacOS. Well maybe Android (based on Linux) is large but this is ony for mobile computing, which is probably the future ...
But today I hear only something about Ubuntu (but many complain about the new UI)?

My experience is that Linux is good for novice users because it is simple to use and you can easily install most of the software for free. It is also good for advanced users who know what they want.
But for average user I would still recommend Windows.
The biggest problem with Linux is that there are too many distributions and every distribution is using different approaches to the same problems.
The second reason is that availability of software for Windows is much greater.

And I agree the biggest problem presents the number of different distributions and approaches. All the major Linux distros should join forces and work on something really representative and innovative. Then try and advertise the hell out of it and push it to the desktop/laptop manufacturers.
There could still be smaller distros for the hard core Linux users, but for a big scale success, joining forces is a must.
