The Solvay Conferences were devoted to outstanding preeminent open problems in both physics and chemistry, the first one was in Brussels in 1911. But the most famous one was certainly the Fifth Solvay International Conference on Electrons and Photons where the world's leading physicists got together to discuss the new quantum theory.

This was the conference where Albert Einstein made a remark to Werner Heisenberg by saying, "God does not play dice" and Niels Bohr replied, "Einstein, stop telling God what to do." 17 of the 29 scientist that were at the 5th Solvay Conference became or already were Nobel Prize winners among them Marie Curie, the famous French-Polish physicist and chemist.
