If your phone doesn't want to boot up again after the update, it gets stuck in a black screen, follow this tutorial where we root the Galaxy SII with Odin and put an official Samsung Android 4 ICS on it.

Hey atvasanth welcome to Dreevoo.
First, if you already haven't, try this:
- turn off the phone
- remove the battery
- put the battery back in
- connect your phone to the charger
- turn the phone back on
If this doesn't work, try resetting your phone to the factory defaults, but mind all the data will be lost so you need to back it up first. This is how you do a factory default reset on Galaxy S2:

If non of the above works, let us know. And don't worry, we will fix your phone one way or another.

Sounds like the actual flashing didn't go all that well. I would suggest you to try and do what you did, following the instructions one more time. It should be ok, if not, again let us now |

Another possible cause of problems might also be faulty battery.
Before doing upgrade procedure please be sure that your battery have enough charge.

Also make sure that in Step 5 in Odin you should see a yellow field. That is how you know the phone and the computer are connected.
Can you also explain a little bit more in detail how it is failing. Do you maybe see any error message? |

Hey ascend, you probably already tried the following: "press center button, power button and volume down button all at the same time and hold them for about 10 seconds"
If you did, then it's a big possiblity one of the hardware pieces is baked. I had the same problem, tried number of things, but couldn't get it to start. When I took it to the repair, they said the chip died. They replaced it for free(2-years warranty) and the phone naturally started to work again.

Hey Mat - thats good advice as I am convinced its the chip. The phone is still under guarantee so I will contact Samsung and see whether they are prepared to replace the chip.
By the way I tried having it repared at several places including Samsung but was told it was water damage which is not covered by the warranty. I did not believe them and gave it to an expert who works for a government commission and was told that there is no water damage but an operating software problem.
However I will post a follow up as soon as the problem is resolved. |

Yes, I've been there as well. They always ask or even claim the phone experienced the water damage, it's their easy way out. Hope everything works well for you, am looking forward to a positive follow up. |

Hey wanann. If I understand you correctly you can't set your language back because you don't understand what is says. Do the following:
1. tap the Home button
2. tap the Menu touch button (button left to the Home button).
3. tap the last option in the menu (it's the Settings option)
4. scroll down and find the option with the keyboard A key button (Language and input)
5. tap the first option at the top and choose your own language
Hope it helps, if not let us know and we'll figure something out.

Hey,
I presume you have Kies installed and you get the green Pass (step 9) after the root applied?
If you do you can try one of these things:
- Run Odin as Admin (right-click > Run As Administrator)
- Run Odin in Windows XP SP2, SP3 compability mode (right-click > Properties > Compatibility)
- Change USB port you attach the cable to
- Change the USB cable if possible

Hey ferny,
but your phone did go into the Download Warning screen after pressing 3 buttons (step 1 and 2)? I would suggest you to reinstall Kies so you get the fresh phone drivers.
Then try the following:
Connect your SG2 via USB to your computer just before you click the Start button in Odin and NOT earlier. Wait for the yellow ID:COM field for a couple of seconds to appear before clicking Start button.
Good luck and let us know how it went. |
