I allways had a wish to be more open and tried many Linux distributions. I must say, none had me convinced becouse of it's bad position of icons, programs etc.

Once I believed that Linux has a chance to change things in home computing, but today Windows 7 is light years away from best Linux distribution available. Are mobile phones to blame?

I partially agree with NikMan that there is still a lot to be done for Linux to become more mainstream.

The biggest problem I see is lack of standards because every linux distribution tries to implement things in its own way. My proposal would be to establish an independent organization which will define some guidelines or even standards for all Linux distribution.

And the second problem is support from software and hardware vendors. But here the problem is that Linux has such a low market share. But I think even on this field Linux is gaining ground. A good example is release of Steam for Linux, which will provide good gaming support.
