A rare and graceful space event took place in northern part of Australia. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully blocks the Sun. For this to happen we need a new moon - the phase of the Moon when it lies closest to the Sun in the sky as seen from the Earth - and sun, Moon and the Earth need to be perfectly aligned.
