Non of them and both.  I love them all, I am a cat owner and my parents have always had a dog.
Cats are great, they are pretty much self sufficient and some might even call them ego-centric. But you can't put them all in the same basket, each cat has it's own individual personality and can be as loyal as dogs. I own a cat because I don't live in a house, when I move into a house then I'll have a dog as well.
Dogs are great as well, loyal companions, grateful for every minute that they can spend with their "owners". There's is a great saying I recently heard and it goes something like this "if you want to buy love, get yourself a dog". It's hard to understand if you never experienced this unconditional love of a dog.
