Great function which u can use to make big Excel sheets with lots of entries more transparent and easier to handle.

1.

Open an Excel document.

Freezing rows or columns usually comes in handy when you have big amount of entries in your sheets, so when you scroll up or down you can still see the name of your rows or columns.

2.

Click View in the menu.

3.

Now select the cell bellow the row you want to freeze and next to the column you want to freeze.

In my case I want the most upper column with names and the most left column to freeze while I'm scrolling. Basically all the rows above the cell and/or all the columns left to the cell you choose are going to "freeze".

4.

Click the Freeze Panes button and choose Freeze Panes if you want to freeze columns and row.

If you want to freeze only rows than choose Freeze Top Row, if you want to choose only columns, choose Freeze First Column.

5.

You will notice dark borders that represent the freeze area.

6.

Now try scrolling to the right and down and observe the rows or columns you chose to freeze.

7.

Pretty neat feature I would say.

8.

To unfreeze columns and cells, just click the Freeze Panes button again and choose Unfreeze...
