Axl Rose and Slash reunited

Let's reunite the two most memorable members of once the most popular rock band Guns'n'Roses using Photoshop.

Click here, to download photo of Slash and open it in Photoshop.

Choose the Lasso Tool (press L for a keyboard shortcut).

Select the Slash.

You don't need to be too accurate just make sure you select the whole Slash.

Press Ctrl + C to copy the selection.

Click here, to download photograph of Axl Rose and open it.

Press Ctrl + V, to paste the Slash you selected to photo of Axel Rose.

Choose the Move Tool (press V for a keyboard shortcut).

Now click hold and move the Slash a bit to the left (see picture).

Press Ctrl + T, to enter the layer transformation mode and make Slash smaller by holding Shift key and dragging on the corner.

Press Enter to confirm the transformation.

Make the Axel Rose layer invisible the Slash layer should still be selected (see picture).

Choose the Eraser Tool (press E for a keyboard shorcut).

Right click the document and set the eraser Size to about 30 px and Hardness to about 85% (see picture).

Now start carefully erasing obsolete areas around the Slash.

Erase in shorter phases so you can use Ctrl + Z to redo potential mistakes.

We could use some other selection tools but I decided to go with the proven method as there was too much of the black color around.

Background photo is very dark so it not a biggie if you leave some small black areas around the slash untouched.

Now select the Axel Rose layer and make and make the Slash layer invisible (see picture).

We are going to put Slash behind the arms and heads of fans.

Choose the Lasso Tool (press L for a keyboard shortcut).

In the menu click Layer, New Adjustment Layer and choose Levels.

Click OK.

Drag the grey slider to the left (see picture).

Select the fan's hands under the stage (see picture).

Select the Axel Rose layer.

Press Ctrl + J to duplicate the selected layer.

And drag that duplicated layer to the top of layers.

Make the Slash layer visible again (see picture).

This is how it should look like by now.

Select the duplicated hands layer (see picture).

Choose the Eraser Tool (press E for a keyboard shorcut).

Now slowly and carefully erase the obsolete areas around the hands of fans (see picture).

You will probably need to reduce the eraser size (see step 11).

We are done!

To achieve even more realistic effect, select the slash layer then click Layers in the menu, Adjustments and choose Match Color... Play with the settings a bit to achieve the best possible match.

It would be so awesome if this wasn't a Photoshop and the Axel Rose, Slash and other former Guns'n'Roses members would start playing together again. Once upon a time they said they are going to be bigger than Rolling Stones, what are they waiting for? ;)
