How to crop image into a perfect square using Gimp
If you found yourself in a position where you wanted to crop a certain photo into a perfect square but you just couldn't figure it out how, than this tutorial is for you.

In GIMP, open a picture you want to crop into a perfect square.
I'm going to crop the snowboarder in my picture.

In the Crop Tool settings bellow, choose the Fixed option and Aspect Ratio then enter 1:1 in the aspect ratio field bellow (see picture).
1:1 means width and height of the crop are going to be exactly the same, meaning you will get a perfect square crop.

Now just click and drag your mouse over the area you want to crop, and as you will notice, your selection remains in a perfect square no matter how you drag your mouse.

You can now move your crop selection at will by clicking into the center of your selection and holding the mouse button.
|
|
|

|
And you can resize it at will by clicking and dragging the crop selection corners.
When you are satisfied with your cropping selection, just press Enter.

Done! You should now have an image, cropped into a perfect square.
