Until now we have been seeing digital newspapers only in sci-fi movies such as Minority Report staring Tom Cruise.

This may, in a very near future, become a reality. South Korean technology giant LG, started the world's first mass production of flexible digital displays known as E-Paper. The 6 inch flexible screen is 0,7 mm thick and only 14 grams light, with a resolution of 1024 x 768 and can be bend up to 40 degrees.

Screen will be shipped to Chinese companies this month and the consumer products should be available in Europe in the beginning of April. We are really anxious to see where and how this flexible E-Papers are going to be integrated. We're expecting to see a flood of new generation of e-readers, like flexible Kindles and similar e-ink devices.

Last few years there were a lot of news about flexible e-paper and all ended up with promise that it will soon be commercially available. So it is nice to see that this time it might even be true.

I'm just trying to figure how the first flexible screen are going to be useful on a mass consumer market. I'm thinking of advantages over Kindle for example. Ok the E-Paper may weigh less and take less space, it all depends on the design and ergonomy.

It's good to be number one in promising bussines. Just like ASUS with EEE series, could e-paper be LG's top product. I really hope so.
