Sign up to Pinterest without an invite
As your most probably noticed, Pinterest is the newest social media craze, generating more traffic to other websites then LinkedIn, YouTube and Google+ combined!

Go to http://www.pinterest.com
If you want to go through an invite procedure then click Request an Invite button ...
Pinterest is a wordplay of pin and interests, so you basically pin your interests on virtual pinboard.

... enter your email, click Request Invitation then wait for the invitation you are going to get sent to your email.
They say you're getting it as soon as possible, but I didn't wait for that to happen.

For the impatient among us (as myself) click the Login button instead of Request an Invite.
|
|

|
|
You do need a Facebook or Twitter account to be able to sign up instantly.
I'm going to sign up with my Facebook account so I clicked Login with Facebook.

|
You will be asked to login to your Facebook account if you aren't already.
|
|
| |

Click Allow, to allow the Pinterest app to connect to your Facebook account.
|
|

|
Let's now create an actual Pinterest account.
Choose an Pinterest username, enter your email and choose a password.
I chose username Dreevoo so my Pinterest profile will be available on http://pinterest.com/Dreevoo
When you get a "green light" on all your entries, click Create Account.

Now choose the topics that interest you.
I chose technology, Photography, Geek, Science, Architecture and a few more...
When done choosing, click Follow People.

Based on the topics of interest you chose, Pinterest automatically added people you can follow.
In case you don't want to follow certain people's interests, just click the Unfollow button under their profiles.
Click Create Boards button when done.

Pinterst added a few Boards for you, if you agree with proposed boards click Create when not, you can remove them by clicking Remove icon (see picture).
You can rename them by clicking the board and typing a new name ...

... you can add some more proposed boards by clicking the topic on the right side (see picture) ...

... if you want to add a brand new board, click Add button ...
|

| |

... and enter a name of your new board.
When done creating your Pinterest boards click the Create button.

If you're using Mozilla Firefox you can install a Pin It button which will make pinning your favorite things on the Internet even easier.
If you don't want that button click Start Pinning.

If you want to install Pin It button to Mozilla Firefox, press Alt + V and choose to activate Bookmarks Toolbar option.

Then just click, hold and drag the Pin It button to your bookmarks toolbar (see picture).
|

All you have to do now is to click Start Pinning! button.
|
|

And you're a proud owner of your very own Pinterest profile and pin boards.
