How to change default search service in Mozilla Firefox
If you enter search keywords into url entry field Firefox will use the Google search service by default. Let's find out how to change that.

Like most of todays browser, Mozilla Firefox enables you to enter you search keywords directly into the web address entry field. Let's see how to change the default Google search service to Bing.

You can easily change a default search service in search field next to the url entry field.
|
|
|

Enter about:config into web address entry field and press Enter.
|
|
|

|
Just click the I'll be careful button to proceed.
|
|

Now enter browser.search.defaultenginename ...
|
|
|

|
As you can see, a default value is set to Google, we need to change that to Gimp or to whichever other search service you want.
... and double click the result you got.

Enter Bing as a string value and click OK.
You can also enter Twitter for instance or any other search service you get listed when repeating the step 2 of this tutorial.

Next time you enter search words into the url entry field you will get the results in you newly set default search service, Bing in my case.
