Make dark pictures brighter using Gimp

Let me show you how to make underexposed photos brighter using the free Image Editing software GIMP.

  Author: mat | Version: 2.6.11 | 17th August 2011 |

1.

Open the picture you want to make brighter in GIMP.

Click here for the lesson on where to get GIMP and how to install it.

2.

Click Colors and Curves.

3.

Curve settings windows shows up. Make sure to have Preview checked.

4.

Now click the line somewhere at the beginning and drag it upwards. (see picture)

5.

Your picture should now look lighter.

Just keep checking the preview to achieve the result you like.

6.

Mine is now considerately brighter and with minimum noise.
Mind, with some picture it's harder to achieve the perfect result you would like.
