Pimp my car Photoshop part 3

In the last of the Pimp my car Photoshop series we will tint the windows and change the color of our new hot ride.

  Author: mat | Version: CS5 | 14th January 2012 |

1.

Click here for the part 2 of the pimp my car tutorial where we made the car lower.

Open the psd or image file of the car from the previous lesson.

"Low body" 1951 Plymouth Cambridge.

2.

If you are working with a psd file from the previous two tutorials then go to the menu and click Layer and choose Flatten Image.

Create a new layer (see picture).

3.

Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool.

4.

And select the front side window (see picture).

5.

Click the Add to selection button.

We will be able to make as many selection we want at the same time or in our case, the rest of the windows.

6.

And select all of the windows but the windshield (see picture).

7.

Press D to set the black foreground color.

Choose the Paint Bucket Tool.

8.

And click the selection to tint your windows black.

9.

Now set the layer Opacity to 85%.

10.

This is how mine looks like at this point.

Let's now change the color of this beaut.

11.

Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool.

12.

Make a selection around the car like I did (see picture).

Make sure you don't have anything else red except of a car in your selection.

13.

Choose the car layer (see picture).

14.

In the menu click Image, Adjustments and choose Change Color...

Click the car on the area where I did (see picture) to define the color we want to change.

15.

Now click to set the new color for our car (see picture).

16.

In the color picker, pick the color you like and click OK.

17.

Now set the Fuzziness to about 180 and click the Add to Sample button (see picture).

18.

Now click the area where I did and observe how the color of  a car changes.

Just click on different areas and experiment with the Fuzziness settings to achieve better results, mine still looks messy at this point but it wasn't really a high quality photo to begin with.

19.

Now fine tune your color with Hue, Saturation and Lightness settings.

Just try different settings, you can set a totally different color by dragging the sliders.

And click OK when you feel satisfied.

20.

Congrats, now you're pimpin'! ;)
