Pimp my car Photoshop part 2

So we put our car on some bigger wheels, let's now make it lower and even more pimpin'!

  Author: mat | Version: CS5 | 13th January 2012 |

1.

Open the car document where in previous lesson we put some bigger wheels on.

Click here for the part 1 of pimp my car tutorial.

2.

Select the car layer.

3.

Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool.

4.

And select the bumper like I did (see picture).

5.

In the menu click Select and choose Refine Edge...

Set Smooth: to 1.

Click OK.

6.

Press Ctrl + J to create a layer from your selection then move the new layer a bit towards the ground and a bit to the right (see picture).

If your new layer does not want to move press V to select the Move Tool and try moving it again.

7.

Choose the Clone Stamp Tool.

8.

Select the new car layer (Background) and carefully start cloning the parts of the road towards the car's grill (see picture).

Set the Clone Stamp Tool size to about 6 and hardness to about 95. You might want to change the size a couple of times for better results.

9.

It should end up looking something like this.

10.

Now select the Pen Tool.

You can also use one of the regular selection tools if you don't feel comfortable with Pen Tool.

11.

And make a selection similar to mine.

Click here for the lesson on how to use a Pen Tool for selecting.

12.

Press Ctrl + J to create a new layer from selection and drag it to the top of the layers (see picture).

13.

Press Ctrl + T then rotate and move the new layer the same way as I did.

14.

Again create a new empty layer and move it to the top of layers.

Choose the Clone Stamp Tool and and start cloning the areas to cover the rest of the old car grill (see picture).

15.

So it ends up looking like this.

Select the layer you created in step 12 (second layer from top).

Choose the Eraser Tool and delete the part that was hanging over the bumper (see picture).

16.

Now select the Burn Tool.

17.

And burn the edge of the top layer a bit as I did (see picture).

18.

Now again choose the car layer.

Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool and select the same area as I did.

19.

Press Ctrl + J to create a new layer from selection and move the layer towards the ground a bit so it's on the same level as the front bumper (see picture).

20.

Select the top layer.

Choose the Clone Stamp Tool and start cloning the area to achieve the result similar to mine.

21.

Be sure to move the layer you created in step 19 above the both wheels layer.

That is, if you're working with the same psd file you were working in the previous tutorial.

22.

Again, use the Clone Stamp Tool to repair the left side of the rear fender.

23.

All you have to do now is to make the back of the car lower. You must do pretty much the same or similar thing you did at the front end of the car.

Tip: don't select just the bumper, select the whole rear part (see picture).

24.

At the end correct the color differences and spots of the car using the Clone Stamp Tool and playing with its size and exposure settings.

I'm sure you will do just fine, the final result depends on the time you are willing to invest in and be sure to use our Forum if you find yourself in a need for help or further guidance.
