Change the suit pattern

Let's take a perfectly boring jacket and put a new freaky pattern over it by creating a clipping mask.

1.

Click here to download a picture of a suit.
Click here to download a crazy new pattern.

Open a picture with a suit.

2.

Choose the Quick Selection Tool.

3.

Select the jacket (see picture).

4.

Press Ctrl + J to create a new layer from your selection.

5.

In the menu click File, choose Place and open a pattern picture.

6.

Now using your mouse, place the pattern so it covers all of the jacket (see picture).

Press Enter when done.

7.

Right click the pattern layer ...

8.

... and choose Create Clipping Mask.

9.

Jacket has now a new freaky pattern, let's make it a bit more realistic looking.

10.

Choose Overlay as a pattern layer blending mode (see picture).

11.

Choose the Move Tool ...

12.

... and adjust the position of a jacket a bit by using your mouse or arrow keys on you keyboard.

I've set the center of the pattern to be right on the jacket's button.

13.

Right click the pattern layer and choose Rasterize Layer.

14.

Now choose the Eraser Tool ...

15.

... and start clicking jacket's buttons to erase the pattern on them.

16.

And you are done! Looking good, who wouldn't want to wear that?
