Old torn photo effect using Photoshop
In this basic Photoshop image editing tutorial we are going to create a torn photo effect in less then 10 steps.

1.

|
Open a picture you want to tear.
|
|
|
2.

|
|
Press Ctrl + J to duplicate the layer and then select the original layer.
|
|
|
3.

|
|
Press D then X to choose a white foreground color, then press Alt + Delete to fill the original layer with white color.
Select the new layer (see picture).

|
|
Choose the Eraser Tool.
|
|
|
5.

|
|
Right click the picture the find and select Rough Round Bristle brush (see picture).
|
|
|
6.
|
|
|
Now start clicking and erasing the area you want to tear away.
|
|
|
7.
|
|
|
Continue erasing you might want to go more then once to completeley erase some areas.
Just leave a bit of a grey edge as you can see on my picture and delete the rest.

|
Let's apply the final effect.
In the menu click Layer, Layer Style and choose Drop Shadow...
In the new setting window choose the same settings as I did and click OK.

|
That's it, not bad for a quick job is it?
