Cosmic explosion with Photoshop

Really basic lesson but with cool looking end result, let's ignite a cosmic explosion using Adobe Photoshop.

1.

Open a new Photoshop document then go to Edit and choose Fill...(Shift + F5 for the keyboard shortcut).

Choose the Black fill color and click OK.

2.

Select the Brush Tool.

3.

Choose the color you like but let it be a darker version of the color.

Dark purple in my case.

4.

Right click the document and set the brush Size to about 340 px and hardness to 50 %.

Press Esc to close the settings window.

5.

Click the document to create a slightly blurred circle.

6.

Select the Smudge tool

7.

Right click the document and set the Size and Hardness to about 22.

Press Esc to close the settings window.

8.

Now click the mouse and start dragging it from the middle of the circle to the outside to achieve the same effect as I did (see picture).

9.

Press Shift + Ctrl + N and click OK to create a new layer.

Choose a lighter version of the color you chose before.

10.

Right click the document and set the brush Size to about 170 px and hardness to 50 %.

11.

Click in the middle of the smudged circle to create a smaller and brighter circle (see picture).

12.

Now again choose the Smudge tool, set a little smaller Size and start dragging the mouse from the middle of the new circle to the outside.

The same way you did in previous steps.

13.

Create a New layer (see picture).

You can  press Shift + Ctrl + N instead,  like you did in step 9.

14.

Press D and then X to set the white foreground color.

 Right click
the document and set the brush Size to about 70 px and hardness to 50 %.

15.

Click in the middle of the smudged circle to create a smaller white circle (see picture).

Press Esc to close the settings window.

16.

Again choose the Smudge tool, set a little smaller Size and start dragging the mouse from the middle of the new circle to the outside.

And KABOOM! you're done. :)
