Picture in text
We're going to add some text to a picture then delete everything except the text area.

Open a picture in GIMP.
Click here for the where to download and how to install GIMP lesson.

Choose the Font and set the Size.
Go for a heavier font, it will look better.
|
|
|

|
Enter a text in GIMP Text Editor and click Close.
|
|
|

|
Now click and drag the text to the area of the picture you would like to be seen in your text.
You can set the text layer opacity to a lower settings if it helps you with locating the right area.

In the menu click Layer, Text to Selection and choose Text To Selection.
Press Delete to get rid of the text and press Ctrl + I to invert the selection.

This is how it should look like by now.
You have selected everything but the text area.
|

Now click the Background layer and press Delete.

|
