Am I running 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7

I am going to show you, how to determine if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 operating system.

1.

Click Start -> right click Computer -> click Properties

2.

Your system information window opens.

Next to system type you can see your version of the Operating System.

I have a 64-bit version, so it says 64-bit Operating system, if I had a 32-bit version it would have read 32-bit Operating System.

3.

There is another way to find out your Operating System version.

Click Start and Computer.

4.

Click top open the drive your Windows 7 is installed on. It's usually C: drive.

Now you can see the folders on system drive. If you see 2 Program Files folders, Program Files and Program Files (x86), then your computer is running a 64-bit version. In case there's only Program Files folder your computer is running a 32-bit version.

Why 2 Program Files folders in a 64-bit version?

By default the 64-bit Software gets installed in Program Files folder and 32-bit Software gets installed in Program File (x86).
