If you're Photoshop beginner there's a big chance you at some point you were wondering about the difference between Fill and Opacity.

1.
Open a random picture in Photoshop.
The impatient among you just skip to the step 8 to see the difference between Opacity and Fill.
2.
Choose Horizontal Type Tool (T).
5.
Click the picture and enter some random text.
6.
In the menu click Layer, Layer Style and choose Stroke...
Choose the same settings as I did.
7.
Now on the left click the Outer Glow, choose the same settings as I did and click OK.
8.
We applied two effects to the text layer...
9.
...as you can see under your layers.
Press F7 if you don't see the Layers window.
10.
Now set the Opacity to 40%.
11.
Your whole text is now transparent.
12.
Now set the Opacity back to 100% and set Fill to 40%.
13.
As you can see now the effects (Stroke and Outer Glow) we applied to the object are still fully visible only the object it self became transparent.
Hope you understood what I was trying to show you, if not completely don't hesitate to use the Forum.
