How to create a simple company logo using Photoshop
Creating a logo is one of the main tasks when building a brand's outer appearance. Let's make a clean and simple one from scratch using Photoshop.
1.
Open a new Photoshop document and choose the Rounded Rectangle Tool.
3.
Set the Radius size to 15 px and choose a color for your logo's background.
I chose the color number c3d9fe.
4.
Draw a square.
Hold shift key to draw a square.
5.
Press Ctrl + T for the Free Transform mode and then press Ctrl + R to activate the rulers if they're not already activated.
Click the vertical ruler...
6.
.... and drag the line to the middle of the square (see picture).
7.
Now rotate the square 45 degrees.
When in Free Transform mode a rotation arrow shows up if you move your mouse close to any corner of the object.
8.
Choose the Horizontal Type Tool.
9.
Choose the Font for your logo, set the size to 60 pt...
You can choose whatever font you like, just be careful it fits the brand and the background style. Maybe try to make it bold if it fits better.
10.
... select the white font color....
11.
...and enter a letter that represents your firm, company or whatever this logo is representing.
12.
Choose the Move Tool.
13.
Press Ctrl + T to enter the Free Transform mode and resize the letter to achieve the result similar to mine.
Press Enter when finished.
14.
With letter layer selected, click fx button and choose Drop Shadow blending option.
15.
Choose the same settings as I did and click OK.
16.
Now select the Layer 1, click the fx button and choose Inner Glow.
17.
Choose the same settings as I did and click OK.
I chose the color number 7c7c7b.
18.
Click View and Clear Guides to get rid of the vertical line.
19.
Done deal, nice clean and simple, like it's suppose to be.
People should easily remember how the logo looks like, so when they see it, they should be able to immediately connect logo and the brand it represents.
