Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 7 taskbar
I'm going to show you how to activate a Windows Media Player 12 mini toolbar on Windows 7.

|

1.
|
|
|
It's a different procedure then you were used to on your older systems. Windows 7 does not support it by default. So let's get crackin'.
Windows 7 32-bit users click here to download the needed file. Windows 7 64-bit users click here to download the needed file.
Unzip download file and copy it into

|
Click Start and put cmd into Search program and files.
|
|
|

|
|
In the search results right click cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator.
If you're not logged in with an administrative user then enter the administrative user's credentials when asked.

|
A Command Prompt window is now opened.
Put or rather copy/paste regsvr32 "c:\program files\windows media player\wmpband.dll" into the command prompt window and press Enter.
To paste the text into the prompt window just right click somewhere in the window and choose Paste.

|
If everything went well you should now see the succeeded message.
Click OK to close it.

Now put services.msc into search field (see picture)...
|
|
|

|
....and double click services.msc to start the Services management window.
|
|
|

|
Expand the Name field to the right sou you can see the whole service names (see picture).
|
|
|

|
Scroll down and find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, right click it and choose Restart to restart the service.
|
|
|

|
|
Service is restarting.
|
|
|

|
Now open the Windows Media Player and minimize it.
|
|
|

|
Right click the Windows taskbar, click Toolbars and choose Windows Media Player.
|
|
|

|
|
And here it is, the good old Windows Media Player mini toolbar.
|
|
|

|
|
To bring the WM Player window back, just Right click the Windows taskbar, click Toolbars and click Windows Media Player.
