How to set passcode and fingerprint ID on iPhone 5S

The new Apple iPhone 5S comes with a touch sensitive finger print reading home button that enables you to unlock your phone or authorize buying apps by simply putting your finger on it.

Open Settings

Tap General

Tap Touch ID & Passcode

Tap Turn Passcode On

Now enter a new passcode that will unlock your iPhone ...

Mind you, this is not a SIM card code.

... enter the same passcode once more.

To add your finger print tap Touch ID

Tap Add a Fingerprint...

Now simply follow the instructions. 

Put your thumb or any other finger you want to use to unlock your phone with its fingerprint, on a Home button and let the phone scan it. Repeat the procedure by only slightly shifting the finger and putting it back on the button. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Tap Continue when the finger scanning procedure is complete.

If you want to use the fingerprint authentication when buying songs from iTunes or installing an app from App store, then enable the iTunes & App Store option as well.

It is probably already enabled.

If you want to add another finger to the Fingerprints that are allowed to unlock your iPhone then tap Add a Fingerprint... and repeat the scanning procedure.

If you want to allow another person to be able to unlock your phone the let them scan their finger.

Next time you are asked to enter your passcode, you simply put the finger on the Home button and it should immediately unlock your phone.
