Create Magical Light Over Christmas Tree in Photoshop
We will open a custom photograph of a Christmas tree and add a ray of light over it to make it look magical in this Photoshop tutorial.

1.

Open a random Christmas photo.
I have searched and found a Christmas tree on Google images.

Select Rectangular Marquee Tool (M).
|
|
|

And create selection around the tree as I did.
|
|
|

|
|
Press D key to set black and white color.
Then click above on Filter, Render and select Clouds.

Set layer's blending option to Screen.
|
|
|

Click above on Filter, Blur and select Motion Blur...
In a new window set the same values like I did and press OK.

Then click above on Edit and select Free Transform.
Hold Ctrl (Command on MacOS) key and drag upper corner together, like I did.
Confirm transformation by pressing Enter key.

Click above on Layer, Layer Style and select Color Overlay.
Set the same values like I did and set yellowish color.
Click OK.

Select Polygonal Lasso Tool.
|
|
|

Now select the edges of just created light over the tree (see my pic).
Hold Shift key to create selections that are separated.

Click above on Filter, Blur and select Gaussian Blur...
In a new window set the same values like I did and press OK.

Click above on Select and choose Deselect.
Select Eraser Tool (E).
|

|

Right click on document and set up the pretty much same values as I did.
|

Remove the unwanted light on the document.
|
|
|

Set layer's opacity around 60% (see my pic).
