Amazon will use flying drones for package deliveries
Amazon revealed a delivery technology straight out of sci-fi movies. Flying robot drones might start picking up and delivering packages to Amazon customers in not so distant future, awesome!
Always nice to hear about the drones that are not designed for military purposes, and this flying robot is a fine example of how drones can be applied to serve the needs of people. Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos announced a flying, autonomous delivery Prime Air drone that should be operational in a couple of years, but probably not sooner than 2018.
And how will the drone delivery look like? During the ordering process, if a customer selects the drone delivery, flying robot picks up the package in a warehouse up to 10 miles away from the delivery address, and then in a fully automated flight, the drone finds the house address using GPS and delivers the goods at the customer's door.
Not to forget, the Prime air drones are powered by electricity which makes them pretty green and will potentially relieve the ever growing road traffic to some extent. Look at the thing go in the following video, how great is that?
It was, to some extent but I do believe they are working on something in air delivery kind of direction. There sure are some concerns about safety, landing sites and people shooting the drones down in order to get a free package.
When all this things are figured out, and air space opens for drone traffic, I don't see a reason not to use the unmanned flying machines for small package deliveries.
