Alstom, a large French multinational company describes itself as a world leader in transport infrastructure, power generation and electrical grid. And rightfully so, as they have just announced the completion of a giant, new generation offshore wind turbine. This enormous at-seal power plant is capable of producing 6 MW (megawatts) of electricity.
The Haliade 150 - it's how they named the turbine - is 100 meters (328 feet) tall, has 73 meters (240 feet) long blades and the pillars that are sunk over 60 meters (197 feet) deep into the sea bad. It is suppose to be 15% more efficient than the existing offshore wind turbines and can power about 5,000 household on its own.
