Improve the Lightning on a Photo using Photoshop

Really useful Photoshop retouching tutorial where we will open any photograph of lightning and drastically improve it.

1.
 

Open any Lightning photo you want to improve.

I have opened a photo, which was taken on LoĊĦinj island in Croatia.

Click above on Layer, New Adjustment Layer and select Levels...

On RGB mode set the midtones to 0,75 (see my pic).

Don't close the window ...

On RED mode set the shadows to 32 (see my pic).

Click OK.

Click above on LayerNew Adjustment Layer and select Color Balance...

Select the Midtones and set the same settings like I did.

Don't close the window ...

Select the Shadows and set the same settings like I did.

Don't close the window ...

Select the Highlights and set the same settings like I did.

Click OK.

And Preserve Luminosity must not be selected.

Confirm the changes.

Press Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and J together to duplicate adjustment layer.

Click above on LayerNew Adjustment Layer and select Color Balance...

Select the Midtones and set the same settings like I did.

Confirm the changes.

Now select the main layer with photograph (see my pic).

Click above on Filter, Sharpen and select Smart Sharpen...

Set the same settings like I did and click OK.

 
 
12.
 

We are finished.
