Track Scout the drone boat crossing the Atlantic

A group of students built an autonomous unmanned solar powered drone boat and sent it to a journey to cross the Atlantic. What even cooler, you can actually track it online using the Transatlantic Tracker.

Today is the 7th day of the tran-atlantic journey of the drone boat called Scout. It has already broken a few records for the farthest unmanned voyage.

Solar powered, 12-foot (3.6 meters) long Scout is entirely pre-programmed but it also relies on sensors which help him constantly adjust to the environmental changes. It rocks two Mega Ardunio microcontrollers, one for the satellite communication and another for sensors.

Now for the awesome part, you can track the lonely Scout the robot boat via Transatlantic Tracker, give it a try. You are also more than welcome to catch the innovative students behind the Scout project on their Facebook page.

Looks like it went a bit off-course there, must be the currents.
