Log in to your Twitter account, click the Settings button ...

... and choose Settings from the drop-down menu.

Click Email notifications.

Now you can choose when you want Twitter to send you Emails.

If you don't want Twitter to send you Emails related only to Twitter updates and not the ones that are related to you or your tweets, then browse down to the Updated from Twitter section and disable all the options.

When done, don't forget to click the Save changes button.
