Make super tasty homemade tortillas

There is a great chance that tortillas you get in supermarkets contain a great deal of preservative harmful to your body. Why not make your own, it's super easy.

  Author: NikMan | 30th April 2013 | Difficulty : 2 / 5 |
Flour
Flour ( 250 g )
Corn flour
Corn flour ( 100 g )
Yeast
Yeast ( 2 pinch )
Butter
Butter ( 80 g )
Salt
Salt ( 2 pinch )

  Persons : 2 | Preparing: 30 min | Making: 10 min | Cleaning: 5 min

1.

We will make 8 tortillas which is more than enough for two persons or even 4.

Put 250g of flour into a bowl.

2.

Add 100g of corn flour.

3.

Add a pinch or two of powdered yeast.

4.

Add 80g of butter.

The butter should be put to a room temperature otherwise it will be a bit difficult to knead the dough.

5.

Start kneading with your hands and add warm water gradually until you get a sticky tortilla dough. Not to sticky may I add.

6.

While kneading add a pinch or two of salt.

7.

When the dough is just right, cover it with a cloths and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

8.

After 30 minutes, divide the dough to 8 even pieces.

Pour some flour over the surface where you will roll the dough.

9.

Put a bit of flour over the roller as well, roll over the dough to end up with a flat tortilla like mine (see picture).

10.

Put the tortilla into the frying pan with the temperature set to 7/10.

If you don't have a frying pan with a non-stick cooking surface then add a bit of oil and heat it before you put the tortilla in.

11.

After a good minute turn the tortilla over.

You can help yourself with a spatula.

12.

And that's basically it. Your very own homemade tortilla with no pesky preservative what so ever.
