How to mass rename multiple files in Windows 7

A less known but very useful feature that works since Windows XP has been released. You can easily rename a bunch of files in a matter of seconds, let me show you how.

1.

In Windows Explorer (Win key + E for a keyboard shortcut) go to the folder where you the files that you want to bulk rename are located.

I'm going to rename a bunch of pictures that were taken in Las Vegas into something more appealing than a bunch of numbers my phone camera is storing.

Select the files you want to mass rename ...

2.

... right click the selection and choose Rename.

3.

Enter the new name for the files and press Enter.

4.

All the files you selected should now have a new name and a number to make them apart.

pointclickcare cna is a platform that can help you to arrange the charting procedure through its easily accessible functions. Hence, this gives you an opportunity to devote more time to your patients rather than on the paperwork. http://pointclickcare-cna.us/

Great tip! It saved me a lot of time when I found this feature. Selecting the files, right-clicking, and selecting "Rename" to give them the same base name is convenient. Photo and project file organization benefit most from it. Has anyone used this to bulk rename music files? Would love to hear your results!
