Import and export Word documents to Google docs
You can upload and import any MS Word document file to Google docs/drive as you can download and export a Google docs document to you computer and open it with MS Word.

On Google docs (or Drive if you use the Google Drive service), click the Upload/Import icon and choose Files (See picture).

Now browse for the MS Word .doc file you your computer and open it.
|
|
|

Wait for the upload to complete then click the Word document you just uploaded.
|
|
|

|
You can now view your Word document but you cannot edit it. In order to edit MS Word documents you need to open it as Google Docs file.
When you have the document open, click File ...
|

... and choose Google Docs.
|
|
|

|
You can now edit your former MS Word document at will using Google Docs service.
|
|

Now go back to your Google Docs/Drive homepage.
The tab should still be open in your Internet browser if you didn't close it.

And here are two version of the same file. The one with the W is the original MS Word file and the second one is the Google docs version of the file.
To download or export the Google Docs file MS Word do the following ...

Right click the Google Doc document and choose Download.
|
|
|

If not already selected, choose the Microsoft Word option ...
|
|
|

... and click Download.
|
|
|

Open the download document with Microsoft Word ...
|
|
|

... and here you go. You can now edit your Google Docs document in MS Word.
You can do basically the same thing with Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheet documents.
