Link in a table a dreamweaver HTML tutorial

You will learn how to set a link in a table or a single cell with a help of a short on.click script using Adobe Dreamweaver. Using tables may be a bit old school, but it's a great way to learn about the HTML basics.

1.

Create a new HTML document.

If you already know this basic steps and you only want to see the script part then skip to the step 8.

2.

Click Table.

3.

In the new table settings window set the 1 x 3 sized table and widht to 320 pixels.

Click OK.

4.

Now click the middle cell of the table (see picture).

5.

Set the background color and the height (H) to about 50 (see picture).

6.

Click Code, to activate the Code view.

7.

As you selected the cell you the cursor should be right where that cell is located in the code.

Notice the bgcolor tag (background color), click exactly behind the " char (see picture).

8.

Now copy and paste the following code:

onClick="document.location.href='http://www.dreevoo.com';"

There should be a space between the " and the code you just pasted.

You can enter any website you want of course.

9.

This is how it looks like when I scroll to the right a bit.

10.

Save the page and press the F12 to check what you just did.

If you now click the square ...

11.

... you should end up on the website you defined in the script.

Appreciate the clear tutorial. Tables might be considered old school but mastering the basics is crucial. The on click script tip is a neat addition.
