Creators of Photoshop, Thomas and John Knill, have started with development in 1987 and version 1.0 was released by Adobe in year 1990. In the beginning it was made for manipulation images from scanners, devices that were pretty much expensive.

I was really interested, how version 1.0 looked and declared to write this article about it. It was primitive for today needs and it has probably only 10% of functionality comparing with today versions.

The most obvious lack was layers, which came with version 3.0 in year 1993. Well, the first version offered basic selection tools, basic filters and some adjustments (see pic above).

On pic above you can see two pallets of choosing colours, brushes and patterns.

Settings were pretty much primitive, but better something than nothing, right?

Version 1.0 was capable of some settings for typing, but you had to write a sentence or a word in a dialog box and after that place into the document (there was no layers, remember).

And comparison with current (CS6) version

Haha pixel art, nice article didn't know that Photoshop has been around since the end of the 80's.
