In order to rescue your phone, you will need: micro USB cable, Samsung Kies installed on your computer, Odin program to root the phone, rooting file and original Samsung Android 4 (ICS) image file.
Click here if you don't have Kies for Samsung installed and click here to download the ZIP package with Odin, rooting file and ICS image.
When you have all the things installed, downloaded and ready, take your Samsung Galaxy SII and press center button, power button and volume down button all at the same time and hold them for about 10 seconds ...
| |
2.
... you should now see the Warning!! screen.
Before we continue, it's not recommended to "flash or root" your phone as you may lose warranty or harm your phone even more. We cannot be held responsible if something of above happens. Action was performed on Galaxy SII stock phone and it won't work on carrier phones like TNT and similar.
If you still want to go through, press the Volume Up button to continue.

| |
3.
Connect your SII using microUSB cable to your computer.
| |
4.
Unzip the Dreevoo_com_odin_root_and_ICS.zip you downloaded and start the Odin3 v.185.exe program you find in Odin folder.
| |
5.

In Odin you should now see a yellow field with similar entry as in my case. If you don't see yellow field then you probably don't have Samsung Kies installed on your computer. Download and install it then plug out USB cable from your phone and plug it back in. Yellow field should now appear. If not try closing and opening Odin program.
| |
6.
Let's now "root" the phone, click PDA ...
Rooting a phone means, gaining access to phone system files and having ability to change things you normally could not.
| |
7.
... and choose the CF-Root....tar file.
You can find the file in ZIP document you downloaded earlier.
| |
8.
Click Start and off it goes!
| |
9.
If everything went according to plan you should see a green PASS! field.
It takes a couple of seconds for the procedure to end.
| |
10.
Your Galaxy SII should now reboot and there should be a yellow warning sign meaning your phone is rooted and custom android ROMS can now be added.
But your phone is probably still in "black screen of death".
"Black Screen of Death" is a synonym for the unresponsive state of your phone. It's similar to "Blue Screen of Death" known from Windows systems.

Let's now put a stock Samsung Android 4.0.3 onto a Galaxy SII. In order to do that, we need to put the phone back into Download mode.
Again, press center button, power button and volume down button all at the same time and hold them for about 10 seconds ...
| |
12.
If you are again sure you want to proceed, press the Volume Up button ...
| |
13.
... phone should still be connected to your computer via USB cable.
| |
14.
Again in Odin program, click PDA ...
| |
15.
... and choose the ICS image .MD5 file that was included in ZIP file you downloaded earlier.
| |
16.
Click Start and wait for it to finish its business.
| |
17.
It can take a minute or two ...
| |
18.
... and if everything went smoothly, you should see a green PASS! field.
| |
19.
Your phone should reboot automatically ...
| |
20.
... upgrade the system ...
| |
22.
... and load successfully with a brand new ICS 4.0.3 Android system, with all of your pictures, videos, contacts and other stuff still in tact!
If you get stuck somewhere during procedure click Comment and tell us what is up.
