That is one crazy fact, according to search giant Google, users upload an hour worth of video EVERY second, that's 60 hours per minute!

What's even more crazy, YouTube is getting 4 billions views per day!

Check out the awesome animation they made so we can all get a better perception of what all this humongous numbers mean.

Just click the YouTube play logo to start the animation.

Firstly, those comparisons are kinda stupid.

I mean, who cares about the nyan cat? xD

And secondly, how exactly does youtube manage to survive with this kind of statistics?!

Not stupid, facts.

It's a mad world we are living in, more then 60 million views of the nyan cat is a proof enough

Imagine the running costs

Well, I'm sure their expenses are at least partially covered by the advertisement or some other sorts of contracs as they would probably bankrupt otherwise.

They are indeed covered partially.

I did some quick research and found that in 2009, Youtube running costs were $753 million per year.
And generated revenue was about $200 million.

And I think that even today in 2012 Youtube is still generating loss.

But the truth is that Google has much more longterm plans with this project.

What project do you have in mind?

The next step will be full integration with TV sets where content is the key to success and here Youtube will help them a lot. In the end they will also offer full length movies, tv shows, ....

Final plans most probably also include integration of IP telefony (Google Voice) where every user will also have Google telphone number and local cell providers will become ordinary network operators who will offer just bandwidth.

When they will integrate all the services together, they will have a big advantage. Fortunately they are not the only one because Microsoft and Apple will also go the same path and competition is always good.
