1.

Click the Windows Start button, click Run and type %temp% into the Open field. Click OK.

2.

Delete all the files in that folder.

If there is a problem with one or more files you are deleting just skip them and continue.

3.

Let's now clean up the storage.

Click Start,  All Programs,  Accessories,  System Tools and choose Disk Cleanup.

4.

Choose the Drive you want to clean up and click OK.

In the new window, select the things you want to delete.

I chose all. You can do the same for the rest of the drives if you happen to have more than one drive.

5.

We will now defrag the disks.

Click Start, All Programs,  Accessories,  System Tools and choose Disk Defragmenter.

First Analyze disk then Defragment disk.

You can also set up a defragmentaion schedule, by clicking Configure schedule...

6.

Choose when you want the disk defragmentation to start, select the disks and click OK.

If you set your Disk Defragementer to run once a week, it should be more than enough.

7.

You can also speed up the time that you computer needs to start up Windows, by choosing which programs should start when Windows start and which programs should not start.

Click Start and enter msconfig into Search programs and files field. Start msconfig and in the System Configuration window go to Startup tab. Now uncheck some of the programs you really do not need at the startup to speed your computer's booting time.
