Selective colors using black & white technique

There are many different techniques and ways of creating a selective color images in Photoshop, let me show you the one where we use the black & white adjustment layer.

1.
 

Open a photo you want to achieve a selective color effect on.

 
 
2.
 

Choose the Quick Selection Tool (press W for a keyboard shorcut).

 
 
3.
 

Select an object or a person you want to expose in colors.

Right click your selection and choose Select Inverse.

 
 
5.
 

Click the Create new fill or adjustment layer button ...

 
 
6.
 

... and choose Black & White...

 
 
7.
 

Everything except the objects you selected now turned black & white.

 
 
8.
 

In the Black & White settings window you can adjust the tones to make your picture even better.

 
 
9.
