Create a supernova with Gimp

Let me show you how easy it is to create a supernova effect with one of many cool GIMP filters.

Open GIMP and open a new file.

Click File and then click New (Ctrl+N for keyboard shortcut).

Choose the Bucket Fill Tool (Shift+B for keyboard shortcut).

Click anywhere on your new canvas to paint it black.

Click Filters, Light and Shadow and Supernova.

Supernova settings window shows up.

Make sure you have Preview checked. No click the cross and drag it to the middle of the preview pane.

Choose the colors as you wish.

 
 
7.
 

And adjust the Radius, Spoked and Random hue.

Change the settings and observe the preview pane, when you're satisfied with your settings, click OK.
