How to create a new Photoshop Action

First we're going to create the action set, then record the actual action you can apply on your pictures to save some time on repetitive tasks.

1.

We're going to create an image resize action. The action will resize pictures to the dimension of 300 x 225 pixels which is the size of Dreevoo lesson pictures you see on the left.

Open a picture in Photoshop.

2.

Activate actions by pressing Alt + F9 (or click Window in the menu and enable Actions)

In the Action window click the down arrow (see picture)...

3.

...and choose New Set...

4.

Enter the name of the New Set and click OK.

I've named it Dreevoo actions.

5.

With the new set selected again click the down arrow...

6.

...and choose New Action...

7.

Enter the name of the new action, choose the Set it belongs to and click Record to start recording the action.

I named it Resize to 300x225 and chose the Dreevoo actions Set.

8.

Now every option you select and every command you click, it's getting recorded. As I want my action to resize pictures, I must do the following...

Click Image and choose Image Size...

9.

Set the Width to 300 and Height to 225 pixels ...

10.

...choose the Bicubic Sharper (best for reduction) Resample Image option as I will be reducing the picture's sizes with this action. Click OK.

11.

When you finish the procedure, click the Stop playing/recording button to stop the recording process.

12.

And that's it, the action is recorded and saved.

Now you can apply the action on any given picture by just selecting the action and pressing the Play selection button.
