Multiple Color Overlays over the Photograph

In this Photoshop tutorial we will open a random photo and add multiple colors over it and blend them over to make it really attractive.

  Author: NikMan | Version: CC | 3rd November 2013 |

1.

Open random photograph.

I have opened myself in Colosseum, located in Rome.

2.

First we will split the photograph to four pars using guides.

Click above on View and select New Guide...

Then choose Vertical position and add value 25%.

Click OK.

3.

Repeat step two with 50% and 75% values.

4.

Click above on ImageAdjustment and select Desaturate to convert the photograph into black and white one.

Click above on Image, Adjustment and select Levels...

Drag white slider a little to the left and click OK.

5.

This is my photograph now.

6.

Check if Snap To Guides is selected.

Click above on View, Snap To and choose Guides if not.

7.

Select Rectangular Marquee Tool (M).

8.

Select the first quarter of photograph (see my pic).

9.

And then click on Create new fill or adjustment layer and choose Hue/Saturation...

10.

In a new window select first Colorize and then play with Hue and Saturation levels.

11.

I have chosen green color for the first quarter.

Set blending mode for adjustment layer to Color.

12.

Repeat steps 7-11 for the other three quarters now.

13.

When finished click above on View and select Clear Guides to remove them.

14.

After that click above on Layer, Layer Style and choose Stroke...

Set the same values like I did and click OK.

15.

We have added a layer style to last adjustment layer. Now we will copy this style to other three ones.

Right click on top adjustment layer and choose Copy Layer Style.

16.

Then press the Ctrl (Command on MacOS) and select the lower adjustment layers (see my pic).

17.

Right click on top adjustment layer and choose Paste Layer Style.

Strokes will appear on other quarters too now.

18.

I hope you like this tutorial.
