Toxic Pollution in Photoshop

Pretty simple and useful tutorial, where you will open a random photograph with smoke and convert it into something really not friendly for our environment.

1.

Open some random photograph of pollution or smoke.

Just go to Google images search and search for smoke or something like that.

2.

First we will select the smoke area and we will use the pretty useful Quick Mask Mode.

Click on Edit in Quick Mask Mode (Q).

And press D key to set black and white colors.

3.

After that select the Brush Tool (B).

4.

Right click on document and set up the custom size of brush and Hardness to 0% (see my pic).

5.

With brush tool just mask or brush the area with smoke but leave edges alone for now.

Black color brush the area, white color (press X to switch) remove the brushed area. That's the beauty of masking.

6.

Now set Opacity to around 40% for Brush Tool.

7.

And brush the edges of smoke to achieve better results on the end.

8.

This is my masked or brushed smoke.

9.

Click in Edit in Standard Mode (Q) to leave the mask mode.

10.

Selection will appear but only for everything else than smoke.

11.

Click above on Select and choose Inverse.

Smoke is now selected.

12.

Click above on Image, Adjustments and select Color Balance...

Play with Cyan, Magenta and Yellow sliders to get something you like.

Press OK when satisfied.

13.

Click above on Select and choose Deselect to remove the selection.

We are finished.
