Photoshop a wedding photo into a glass of wine

A cool Photoshop tutorial where we put newlyweds into a glass of wine to create a romantic image you can share with your friends and family.

  Author: NikMan | Version: CC | 7th August 2013 |

1.

Open a photo of newlyweds (see step 2) and choose the Elliptical Marquee Tool.

Hold your mouse on Rectangular Marquee Tool (M for a keyboard shortcut) until all other marquee options appear.

2.

Select the newlyweds  the similar way I did.

3.

In the menu click Select, Modify and choose Feather...

In the Feather Selection window set Feather Radius to about 20 pixels and click OK.

4.

In the menu click Edit and choose Copy.

5.

Open a picture of a wine glass.

Google for "wine glass" there's plenty images to choose from ...

6.

In the menu click Edit and choose Paste, to paste the newlyweds.

7.

Newlyweds should now be on top of the wine glass layer.

8.

In the menu click Edit and choose Free Transform.

Hold Shift  key and adjust the size of the newlyweds layer so it will fint into the wine glass. Press Enter when done.

Holding Shift leaves the layer proportions intact.

9.

Add layer mask to the newlyweds layer (see picture).

Recommended lesson:

10.

We will now get rid of the redundant parts of the newlyweds layer so it will fit in the glass just perfect.

Choose the Brush Tool (B for a keyboard shortcut).

11.

Right-click  the document, set Hardness to 0% and an appropriate brush size.

12.

Now start removing the redundant parts of the newlyweds.

Setting a mask has automatically set a black foreground colour which removes the mask, if you erased too much of the layer press X to set a white foreground colour and simply paint over the parts you erased and they will appear back again.

13.

Remove everything sticking out of the glass.

Remember black colour is for removing, white colour for adding.

14.

In the menu click Layer, Layer Style and choose Blending Options...

Hold Alt key (Option on Mac), and drag the Underlying Layer slider a bit to the right (see picture).

Observe how your image is changing, so you need to play a bit with the slider to achieve the best result.

Click OK when satisfied.

15.

Congrats to all the newlyweds out there!
