A twisted, grainy and abstract Photoshop effect

Real short and simple tutorial where we turn a photograph into an interesting black and white, grainy and abstract looking image.

  Author: Monkibiz | Version: CS5 | 8th December 2012 |

1.

Open a random photograph.

I'm going to twist Pearl Jam's guitarist Mike McCready.

2.

Press D, to set the black foreground color.

In the menu click Filter, Texture and choose Grain...

Choose the same settings as I did and click OK.

3.

Your photo should now be looking like this.

4.

In the menu click Filter, Distort and choose Shear...

Choose the similar settings as I did and click OK.

5.

In the menu click Filter, Blur and choose Gaussian Blur...

Set the Radius to about 3 pixels and click OK.

6.

And we are done.
