Zoom in and out of title text in Adobe Premiere

A real useful tutorial for the beginners where you will learn how to do a simple zoom in effect on a random text and them zoom out of it again in Adobe Premiere CS5.

  Author: mat | Version: CS5 | 19th November 2012 |

1.

Open a New project in Adobe Premiere.

In the menu click Title, New Title and choose Default Still...

Click here if you are not sure how to start a new Premiere project.

2.

Enter the name for your title and click OK.

That's not the actual title text that's only the name for your title.

3.

In the title editor, click the Type Tool (T for a keyboard shortcut).

4.

Click on the document and enter some text.

You can move it and resize it at will, you can even choose the style of your text by choosing from Title Styles bellow.

5.

Close the title editor.

6.

Now click and hold the new title you just created ...

7.

... and drag it to Video 2 track if you already have an imported clip in the timeline. If not simply drag it to the Video 1 (see picture).

8.

Now click the Effects tab (Shift + 7 for the keyboard shortcut), click the Video Transitions, ...

9.

... and click Zoom.

Now click and hold Zoom ...

10.

... and drag it to the beginning of your title (see picture).

11.

You can set the duration of the Zoom effect by clicking and dragging title edges to the left or right on the timeline.

12.

Play the clip to see the zoom in title effect.

13.

To zoom out the text, again go to the Effects tab (Shift + 7 for the keyboard shortcut), click the Video Transitions, Zoom and click and hold Zoom ...

14.

... and drag it to the end of your title (see picture).

15.

And again you can set the duration of the Zoom effect by clicking and dragging title edges to the left or right on the timeline.

16.

To change the zoom in effect into the zoom out go to Effects Controls ..

17.

... and enable the Reverse option.

18.

Your title text should now zoom back out at the end of the clip if you play it.

Again click here if you are not sure how to save a new Premiere project.
